Research from the Arval Mobility Observatory Barometer has shown that 38% of UK businesses rate collision avoidance the most useful ADAS device in fleet vehicles.
The next most popular were found to be:
- Automatic emergency braking (37%)
- Driver fatigue warning (35%)
- Lane departure warning (34%)
- Pedestrian detection system (32%)
- Adaptive cruise control (25%)
- Automatic parking system (14%)
With employers looking to increase their focus on driver safety and behaviours, ADAS systems are becoming more widespread in company cars and vans, with them becoming even more prevalent with the EU’s announcement to make them standard on all new vehicles to the market.
Although the insurance market doesn’t seem to be looking at reducing premiums for vehicles fitted with ADAS, vehicles with the technology fitted do have a reduced chance of being involved in accidents, and so help to protect your no claims bonus and onward premiums.
